Beginner triathlon coaching / Sprint and Olympic
Triathloncoaching forbeginners.
Never raced? That's fine. Skulpt's online triathlon coaching starts at beginner, with swims built for people new to the pool, and your plan opens with a test week that sets your zones.
Starting out
Your firststart line.
Swim, bike and run in one race, one straight after the other. For a first triathlon that is a lot of new things at once: open water, running off the bike, and pacing three sports in a single go.
You don't need a triathlon behind you to apply, or even a race booked. Tell us where you are now and what you'd like to do. If it's a fit, your questionnaire and account follow, and your first plan is written from your answers.
Want a triathlon coach for beginners who sorts the food as well? That is the whole idea of Skulpt: the same coach writes both.
Swim. Bike. Run.
Built for beginners
No guesswork.Just your session.
The pool
If the swim is the part that worries you, your swims are built for people new to the pool and set out step by step.
Your numbers
The test week sets your zones, so an easy ride is easy for you, not for someone fitter.
Any watch
A Garmin works best, as your sessions go straight to it. Apple, something else or nothing at all? You follow every session step by step in the app.
Your coach
Message your coach in the app whenever something comes up, voice notes included, and check in once a week on a day that suits you.

The app
Open the app.Know what to do.
Each day the app shows the session, how long it takes and the zone to do it in, plus your carb day and what to eat.
The week sits on one screen, and the season counts down to your first race. Every week you check in with your weight and front, side and back photos, and you can put any two weeks side by side to see the change.
More on the food side on triathlon nutrition coaching, and on the plan itself on your triathlon training plan.
Case study / Joel
97 kg to82 kg.
Joel came to Skulpt with zero triathlon experience and lost 15 kg in six months.
His first triathlon was the Barry sprint. The Porthcawl and Minehead sprints came after it.
Anthony started from zero too, in his fifties, and went on to race Swansea 70.3 and Ironman Wales in the same year. There is more on that distance on 70.3 coaching.

Questions
Beginners, answered.
What is a sprint triathlon?
Usually a 750 m swim, a 20 km bike and a 5 km run. An Olympic, also called a standard distance, doubles it: 1.5 km, 40 km and 10 km. Distances vary a little from race to race.
I'm not a strong swimmer. Can I still apply?
Yes. Swims are built for people new to the pool, so the plan starts where you are.
How fit do I need to be to start?
Plans start at beginner, and the test week sets your zones from where you are now, not where you'd like to be.
Will you sort my food as well?
Yes. Your coach sets low, medium and high carb days from your training, with the meals for each, so the food and the sessions work together from day one.
Do I need a race booked?
No. Apply with nothing booked yet and tell us what you have in mind.
Is it only sprint and Olympic?
No. Skulpt coaches every distance from sprint to Ironman, and run goals from 5k up too. When you want to go longer, see 70.3 coaching and Ironman coaching.
